Yes. All students should have reserved tickets for their guests as they are required for entry into the Commencement ceremony at The Liacouras Center. 

Yes. Walkthrough metal detectors will be in use at The Liacouras Center for the Commencement ceremony.

The following protocols are in place for all guests.

• Minimize the number of personal items you bring to the venue.
• Allow extra time for arriving at and entering the venue. 
• Guests will be asked to remove from their clothing and belongings any items that may trigger the alarm, including cell phones and keys, before they pass through the metal detector units. 
• Bags will be searched.
• If the metal detector alarm sounds, you will be subject to a secondary screening which may slow your entry into the venue. 

The following items are prohibited at university ceremonies. 

• Alcohol, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia  

• Aerosol cans or noisemaking devices (including whistles, foghorns/air horns, plastic airhorns such as vuvuzelas and didgeridoos)  

• Banners, signs and flags  

• Balloons

• Explosives, fireworks 

• Fuels of any kind (for example, lighter fluid), hazardous chemicals  

• Weapons 

• Self-defense sprays 

• Laser pointers or any items that create an optical distraction 

• Attire that conceals identity

• Backpacks and oversized bags

• Tools

• Razor-type blades (for example, scissors) 

• Projectiles of any kind

• Drones (unmanned aircraft systems) or other aircraft

• Hoverboards and skateboards

• Concealed packages of any kind (such as a wrapped gift)

• Pets (other than service animals or service animals in training)

• Outside food and beverage (except baby food and medically necessary items) 

• Coolers, hydration packs, bottles, cans or other beverage containers 

• Professional photography and videography equipment, detachable lenses or lenses longer than 2.5”  

• GoPros and Contour cameras  

• Monopods, tripods and selfie sticks 

• Any other items deemed inappropriate by venue personnel

The Liacouras Center and all ceremony venues will not check or store any of the above prohibited items nor any other personal items that have been brought to the arena.

Note: Collapsible and foldable umbrellas with a flat top are permitted into the arena; long classical and straight umbrellas with pointed tips are prohibited. Strollers are also not permitted into the seating area of the arena; they can be checked into guest services at The Liacouras Center.

Exceptions are made for medical and religious purposes, after proper inspection.

Yes. Large bags and backpacks are not permitted and a clear bag policy will be in effect.  

• Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" (a logo can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag) 

• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar) 

• Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap) and belt bags, no bigger than a clutch, are permitted 

• Medically necessary items and diaper bags (after proper search and inspection) 

Yes, but the following video and audio recording devices are not permitted.

• Professional equipment, detachable lenses or lenses longer than 2.5”  

• GoPros and Contour cameras  

• Monopods, tripods and selfie sticks 

Guests are encouraged not to bring strollers into the arena. Strollers are not permitted in the seating sections of the arena due to potential safety hazards. 

Strollers may be checked into the guest services office at The Liacouras Center by speaking with a security supervisor. 

Individuals who requested a seating accommodation are encouraged to arrive early.

Doors open 90 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. The main entrance to The Liacouras Center at 1776 N. Broad St. is wheelchair accessible.

On-site wheelchairs are not available. Guests with difficulty walking are encouraged to bring their own wheelchair or mobility device.  

Parking is available at the 15th Street Lot at Norris and 15th streets and at The Liacouras Garage at 1710 N. 15th St. 

The ceremony will be open-captioned and streamed live and on-demand. An American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will be on site for those who need this service.

There are many options using public transportation to get to Temple.

Broad Street Line
The local Broad Street subway stops at Cecil B. Moore Station (Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue).

Bus

• The 4 and 16 buses stop on Broad Street at Cecil B. Moore Avenue, Montgomery Avenue, Polett Walk (Berks Mall) and Norris Street.
• The 3 bus stops on Cecil B. Moore Avenue from 11th Street to Broad Street.
• The 23 bus stops on 12th Street (southbound) and 11th Street (northbound) at Polett Walk (Berks Mall), Montgomery Avenue, and Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

SEPTA Regional Rail

All SEPTA Regional Rail lines stop at Temple University Station, 10th and Berks streets.

There is a lot of traffic congestion and parking volume. Please carpool if possible and arrive early. Parking Services has designated assigned parking areas for each school and college. Each graduate will receive a complimentary parking pass with their graduation packet. Please adhere to these parking assignments. Only guests with parking passes will be able to enter the 15th Street Lot and The Liacouras Garage. Guests who do not have a parking pass for 15th Street Lot and The Liacouras Garage will be directed to the Norris Street Lot and the Montgomery Garage. Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. If your assigned parking area is full upon arrival, you will be directed to an overflow area, as long as spaces are available.

Note: The Broad Street entrance of The Liacouras Center is not a drop-off or pickup location. Police will not permit vehicles to stop on Broad Street, so please familiarize yourself with the other entrances to the venue.
